"Using his dead dad’s voice to sell shoes"

14 Apr

Is the new Tiger Woods Nike commercial a clever advertising production or just a tad creepy?  (I vote for the later).  The voice heard in the commercial is actual audio of his late father taken from a 2004 interview.

In the original clip, Earl Woods was not speaking to Tiger, but instead was speaking about Tiger’s mother, Kultida.  The full quote from the film is, “Authoritarian. Yeah, Tida is very authoritative. She is very definitive. ‘Yes’ and ‘No.’ I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what you’re thinking was, I want to find out what your feelings are and did you learn anything?”

There are lots of spoofs of this commercial out on YouTube, but the one from BlackNerdComedy.com is great.  Here’s the original commercial, followed by the spoof:

Thank you so much for choosing my Tiger Woods spoof as the one you like best. That's totally awesome. Best wishes.
